2004 MBT OPEN TOURNAMENT RULES

1.        Safety – Safe boating conduct must be observed at all times.  Each competitor must wear a coast guard approved chest type life preserver whenever the engine is running.  Every boat must have a kill switch attached to the driver.  Boats must be 14’ in length or longer and not have a motor larger than what does the coast guard rating plate states.  All boats must be equipped with an aerated live well capable of keeping the team’s catch alive.

2.        Sportsmanship – Competitors must follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety, and conservation.  All contestants are expected to obey all boating or fishing and wildlife statutes or rules. All fish must be culled before check-in.

3.        Tackle – Only artificial lures may be used.  Only one rod may be used at one time.  No trolling.

4.        Permitted fishing locations – Anywhere except:  50 yards from any operating marina gas pump, 50 yards from another competitor’s boat which was first anchored with the trolling motor retracted.

5.        Scoring – Final results will be determined by total weight of each team’s catch.  Each team will be permitted five (5) bass that measure 14” or longer with the mouth closed using a “golden rule”.

6.        Dead Fish – A dead fish weighed will be penalized one half pound.

7.        Short Fish – Any fish brought to the scales failing to measure 14” with the mouth closed will be removed from the stringer along with the team’s largest fish.  Any team bringing in more than the team’s five (5) fish legal limit to the scales will be disqualified.

8.        Late Penalty – A penalty of one pound per minute will be deducted from any late team up to ten (10) minutes.  After ten (10) minutes, any late team will be disqualified.

9.        Ties – Big Bass will break stringer ties and in event of a tie for 1st Big Bass then those competitors will split 1st and 2nd  big bass pots.  In event of a tie for 2nd big bass then those competitors will split the 2nd big bass pot. 

10.     Rulings – The tournament director and committee shall reserve the right for rule interpretation and rulings and may remove any team from the field for any reason.  Any protest must be made in writing within ten (10) minutes after the conclusion of the weigh-in.  Each competitor agrees to submit, by participation in this tournament, to a polygraph test.  The administration and interpretation of the polygraph test shall be solely the responsibilities of the tournament director.

11.     Registration – All boat numbers, start positions, flight times and parking information will be sent by mail for each tournament. No pre tournament meeting.

12.     Tournament Times – April 17, 2004, Wawasee, 7am–3pm Indiana time

May 22, 2004, Wawasee, 7am–3pm Indiana time

  July 10, 2004, , Randall, 6am–2pm Indiana time (all participants must pay $5 ramp fee)

  August 7, 2004, Randall, 6am–2pm Indiana time. (all participants must pay $5 ramp fee)

13.     Entries will be drawn from early registrations taken on November 18, 2002 from 5pm – 7:30pm at Moore Boats.

14.     Boat positions will be randomly drawn for each tournament from the early entries.

15.     Entries received after November 18 will be assigned boat positions by date they were received.

16.     Only full season entries will be accepted through February 28, 2003.

17.     Individual tournament entries will be accepted starting March 1, 2003.

18.     No substitutions allowed.  You may fish alone.  Team must be established by first tournament.

19.     Insurance – All contestants are required to carry and show proof of liability insurance.

20.     No refunds once entry is accepted into MBT circuit.

21.     Scoring – Scoring will be based upon total weight for all four qualifiers.  Ties will be broken by biggest bass.

22.     Must have entered all four-tournament qualifiers to be eligible for the wild card drawing.

23.     Each participant must report any income under $600.  A 1099 will be provided for all income over $600.

 

MICHIANA BASS TRAIL ENTRY FORM & WAIVER OF LIABILITY

1.        Having read the official rules and completed the entry form below, we agree to abide by all conditions stated therein.  We agree to assume all applicable taxes.

2.        LIABILITY RELEASE:  by signing this agreement, we hereby release Michiana Bass Trail, all sponsors and their employees and tournament director from any and all damages, claims, demands, and costs of expenses relating to injury, which may be caused by reason of participating in or in connection with this tournament.

3.        VERIFICATION OF LIABILITY INSURANCE:  we further state that we maintain current liability insurance on the boat we will use in this tournament. *

4.        By signing below, we signify that we have read and understand the agreements number 1,2 and 3 above, AND rules number 1 through 23.
